TTS Annual Business Meeting

Thunder Tactical Shooters  held the annual business meeting on December 10, 2011 following the monthly match.

We reported on the club's finances, schedules, match director status, props & equipment & special events.  We also discussed the potential for our club (again) sponsoring the Texas State IDPA Match in 2013. (Yes, the planning really does start that far out!)

At this meeting we announced the slate of elected club officers for the new year.  Your current officers have all experienced long days at the range helping new shooters, working on equipment, and generally making the club the best that it can be.

A hearty Thank You! goes out to Bill Dittoe for serving as a Director at TTS for the last five years.  Bill is one of those people who is always there to lend a hand, and always offers encouraging words to new shooters.  If you smell a cigar burning at your next match (and it's not coming from Al) walk over to Bill Dittoe and thank him for all that he has done to help grow our club.

New (and returning) officers elected by members of the Thunder Tactical Shooters include:

Al Liczwek - President

Ricky Gilbert - Vice President

Eric Cooper - Secretary/Treasurer

Charles Morris - Range Manager

Darrell Sells - Director

Range Work Day Is A Great Success

The Thunder Tactical Shooters work day was a resounding success.  Approximately thirty people showed up on a cool humid morning to do major repairs and enhancements to the range.  Starting promptly at 8:00 the teams swung into action, working steadily until mid afternoon.  The biggest three projects, raising the height of the bay walls on bays, one, through four over two feet for the final eight yards of the bays, removing four dead trees that threatened the covering structure at bay seven, repairing and filling in the wall between bays three and four, and grinding down sharp edges left by bullet holes on approximately eighty plastic barrels to remove potential cutting hazards.  Additionally, a number of other minor projects such as painting equipment, upgraded lights in bay five, adding numbers to the bays, and relocating the slider hardware from bay two were also completed along with general titivation of the grounds.

With so many eager and willing hands, the work went rapidly.  Jesse provided cold drinks and tasty Thunder Dogs to the workers.  A big thank you to all those who came out and worked so hard to make the range safer and generally nicer.  A particular thanks goes to Ricky Gilbert and Darrell Sells for doing the planning and making arrangements for this successful event. Those who did not have the chance to participate in the working party can see these improvements next Wednesday evening or at our December monthly match next Saturday, 10 December.

Range Security & Practice Procedures

Effective 9/9/2011

Hi all,

New procedures for using TTS stands and sticks for TTS member practice. The TTS stands on the wall between bays 3 & 4 are there for member personal practice use.  The sticks locked in the bin below them are also for member use.  Contact one of the board members to verify your membership & obtain the combos for these two locks.

In case you have not noticed, there is a new Club at Thunder Gun Range -  "Thunder Shooters Club".  Any TTS IDPA shooter who wants to practice on their own at Thunder Gun range "must" belong to TSC.  The anuual fee is $25.00 which is a $10.00 savings because you belong to TTS.  You must be a Safety Officer or have an SO with you if you wish to practice during non-IDPA scheduled times.  Range fees for on your own practice is $15.00.  A complete list of TSC benefits can be viewed on Thunder Gun Range's new web site.  www.thundergunrange.com.

These changes have no effect on any members who strictly come out to shoot with TTS during regularly scheduled matches & practice sessions.

If you have not done so already - All TTS IDPA Safety Officers need to see Jesse at their earliest convenience.  Based on your IDPA SO credentials you will be issued, at no charge, a TGR Safety Officer Certificate.

Thank you for your continued cooperation,

Al
